The Well Cards were made as part of the Veil of Dreams. There are 18 total, pen, ink and graphite on die-cut watercolor paper. The Well Cards were made in a ritual fashion – 16 dipped in the Atlantic ocean, either in Aquinnah or Bodo, Norway, and the last two dipped in the Gvenderlaug Pool in Strandir, Iceland. The cards were then oriented toward Iceland, and a ring of sand was then made around the moist paper and ink of specific colors was dripped into the ring. Seaweed remains affixed to some. The last two, made at Gvenderlaug, were made with black ink only, and these were made without a ring of sand, leaving the ink open to the elements of wind and mountain.
